One day while biking in downtown Detroit she went past the DIME (Detroit Institute of Music Education). There, she noticed a poster detailing that the infamous DJ Stacey "Hotwaxx" Hale would soon be hosting a course to learn to DJ.

She attended the one-week SPIN INC. intensive course. On the first day, Stacey showed the students how to mix on CD-Js. While many students arranged their mainstream music selections, GIA quickly asked, "Where is the house music?!" Laughter ensued, and Stacey pulled out her storage device full of musical gold and shared some tunes with GIA. The course culminated with a musical performance; GIA did her thing with her Electronic Music Set and solidified her space as an Electronic Music DJ!

Since her start at DIME, GIA has performed at many Clubs & Venues around Detroit, like TV Lounge, The Urban Bean, Menjos, Lager House, Marble Bar, Temple Bar, Willis Show Bar, Restaurants, Hotels, & Private Parties. She's also performed at the Charivari Festival.
