Digitalis (/ˌdɪdʒɪˈteɪlɪs/ or /ˌdɪdʒɪˈtælɪs/) a genus of herbaceous shrubs, commonly called foxgloves. This is also the name of drug preparations extracted from these plants that contain organic compounds that increase the output force and contraction rate of the heart.
From ancient times, humans have used Digitalis-containing plants and their extracts as homicidal or suicidal aids, poisons, heart tonics, diuretics and emetics, due to the toxic nature of this compound.
Digitalis is also an alias chosen for its similarity with the word Digitally, which is how Gareth now plays having converted his record collection to digital. Playing out since the early 90's, Gareth preferred to play at after parties where the focus was much more about music than personality and perfection.
Gareth chose Digitalis because it's a perfect analogy, a potentially lethal compound that causes your heart to beat faster, which he hopes his music will too.
