DJ Ice started off as a Mc to jungle in 1996. He took his influence from Mc such as Skibadee and Shubba. DJ Ice then met DJ NRG who lived across the road from him in Leyton. They Started their first crew called Bomb Squad. In 1998 NRG became a DJ and Ice stayed as the Mc for the crew. DJ Ice also worked in Samantha’s Nightclub in Bond Street as a Mc for DJ Midi. In 1999 DJ Ice then bought his first pair of decks and became a DJ as well.
By 2000-2001 the crew had grown, and had members such as Ryan B, Mr Charlos, Mikey Da Zee, and Rob Ski. DJ Ice also started branching off and working with other crew like Frontliners and Young Gunz around Leyton. The name Bomb Squad then got stolen by another crew So DJ Ice changed the name of his crew to Paper Makers.
