Gee Rock (born Derek Simmons, March 28, 1963) had a natural gift for the music genres, at an early age he embraced the funky sounds of the 70s with groups like Parliament, Funkadelic, James Brown, Kool & The Gang, etc, once becoming of teenage, Gee Rock was sent to Los Angeles, CA. to attend a private school with a cousin For a year and a half he primarily embraced his first form of Hip Hop in 1978 through a form of dance called Pop Locking, and later robotic techniques. A year after (1979) he returned to his native town of Plainfield,New Jersey To ultimately find out that he was moving to Newark, nj, thus beginning his true Hip Hop roots. forming a duo (Too Dangerous) with his original Dj Johnny Dangerous"(Johnny Holiday)whom later left the group, and was replaced by"DJ Haste Precision"(Ezekiel Washington),and for a short period, having a Rap partner "S Dee" (David Lamar)and then ultimately "DJ Treacherous D" (Arnold Durant) thus solidifying the group's legacy.
