My name is DJ THE FONZ.
I am Dutch and I was born in 1966.

It all started for me at the age of 8.
My mother played a lot of records at home from guys like Barry White, The Three Degrees, Lou Rawls and many more.
I loved this music and for me it culminated in the early 80’s, when the disco sound was evolved and some realy good music was made!

Out of the disco scene came many of the great R&B soft-soul singers like Luther Vandross, Peabo Bryson, Jeffrey Osborne, Alexander O’neal, Anita Baker, Freddie Jackson and many many more.

In the mid 90’s R&B switched to a different sound. Times were getting harder for true soul singers. In that time Smoothjazz (Contemporary Jazz) really got It’s breakthrough.

In fact Smoothjazz is instrumental old skool R&B.
The lead vocals are replaced by lead instruments.
The groove is most of the time based on R&B or Soul rhythms.
