George Rocha, better known as De La Rocha, is a Brazilian who made Portugal his home back in 2008. A passionate vinyl enthusiast and dedicated collector of Brazilian records, his story took a decisive turn during a hot Barcelona summer in 2012. There, together with a friend, he conceived the idea for Porta 12 a DJ collective dedicated to spreading the vibrant sounds of Brazilian music in Lisbon, the capital of the Lusophone world.
Through this collective, they launched a party series known as MUB - Música Universal Brasileira (Universal Brazilian Music), swiftly emerging as a fresh and exciting force on Lisbon’s musical scene. Driven by a desire to share his fresh records collection, George later created “Favela Selecta,” a solo DJ project built entirely around his curated records. Since then, Favela Selecta has brought its unique energy to iconic venues across Lisbon, including Steps Bar, Art Casa, Mercearia Tosca, Buteco Mamma Mia, and Titanic Sur Mer.
