Quito, Ecuador
Llama Este Pez is an experimental jam band from Quito formed in 2014 by live electronics duo Diego Saá and Emanuele Pilo-Pais. Their name is a playful distortion of “Jam Steppers,” reflecting their improvisational roots. Using Eurorack Modular Synths, they craft introspective, psychedelic soundscapes fueled by Quito’s thin air, which they jokingly say affects their brains. In 2022, they ventured on a European tour, expanding their following with spontaneous, boundary-pushing sets. Their debut album, “Cibercardumen,” arrived in 2023, capturing their hypnotic, ever-evolving sonic explorations. Although they’ve had no notable collaborations, they’re far from modest, with an audacious goal to “take over the world.” One quirky catchphrase they often throw at the crowd—“Te gustan los diyeis?”—embodies their playful spirit and sets the tone for their mind-altering live performances.
