Denver, United States
Somewhere between Pacific fog and the neon rot of late-night dance floors, DJ Erik Hz first started slinging records at reckless house parties in Santa Barbara in the late ’90s—when speakers were blown, cops circled the block, and nobody had the good sense to go home, eventually landing in San Francisco in the early 2000s, a half-lawless laboratory of basslines and beautiful weirdos.
In San Francisco he fell in with the notorious Space Cowboys, helping produce and play the legendary Breakfast of Champions, riding the chaos of the Ghost Ship Halloween parties, and wrangling the Bay Area Breakbeat float at Lovefest 2008.
These days Erik has washed up in Denver, still chasing the same electric ghost—DJing, making art, and conjuring strange little universes from sound systems and lights. Musically he moves with gleeful lawlessness through breakbeat techno, electro, house, and experimental drum & bass, dropping exactly the record the room didn’t know it needed.
