Cheers to Dj Mistri!
I truly appreciate the craft that goes into a one-hour show like this.
The flow between the hip-hop beats and the soulful house rhythms is impeccable.

Hi Guido. Thanks for the kind words and comments ..I always thought that HipHop music was always thought of as "ANGRY" music... First with stellar groups such as Public Enemy and then NWA, who also had something to say in the early 1990s
However, there was another style of HipHop music that wanted to use - Jazz/Funk/Soul infused style of HipHop as well, but this did not capture that Column inches as did Public Enemy and NWA.
Groups such as Da La Soul, Jungle Brothers, Black Sheep, A Tribe Called Quest, Gang Starr, Digible Planets, Stetsasonic, wanted to try a different path
Between 1993 and 2007, fellow Gang Starr member Guru released the Jazzmatazz series, which featured guest appearances from jazz artists such as Lonnie Liston Smith, Freddie Hubbard, and Donald Byrd, amongst others.
In 1994, Nas released - Nas (Illmatic, Columbia, 1994) - And that album had by then taken on this new influence of Jazz or Jazz Funk even more seriously.
Within that decade of the 1990s, it wasn't just James Brown's samples completely being used...In this period, which is the 1990s, it is often stated as the BEST TIME for HIPHOP MUSIC releases ever. - was an attempt to fuse African-American music of the past (Jazz) with a newly dominant form of the present, paying tribute to and reinvigorating the former while expanding the horizons of the latter.
The same can be said for House music as many Dj producers such as Todd Terry, Kenny Dope Gonzalez ( from the group known as - The MASTERS AT WORK), the group called Mood 2 Swing, and the persons within the group - consisting of producers John Ciafone and musician Lem Springsteen. It was John Ciafone, who came from a HipHop background, who felt he could create different sounds, beats, and grooves within House music than what they were hearing at present. The same can be said for the group called Blaze ( only 2 in the group at the time) - Josh Milan was the soulful, lyrics guy, but Kevin Hedges made those beats.
In my opinion, House music and HipHop music reached their zenith in the 1990s.... The reason clubs night life.... People living for the weekend.. And going crazy for Clubs night or Raves; and hearing a stunning track live at a club like the Ministry of Sound, Limelight, Twilo would start trends.... Dont get me wrong, their is still stunning music being made today.... However, too much music is being released today. Secondly, the Clubnight and Raves scene was off the scale in the 1990s, and just not of the same level as the 1990s...
@electricsoulshow Itβs so refreshing to talk to someone who appreciates the 'other side' of Hip-Hop, Mistri. π
Groups like A Tribe Called Quest and Digable Planets proved that Hip-Hop could be intellectual, soulful, and deeply connected to Jazz.
Your point about the transition into House via Masters At Work is spot onβitβs the same soul, just a different BPM!
Thank you for the 'Electric Soul' you provide; it's clear you're not just playing tracks,
you're telling a story.
@Jazzmo Hello Guido..I get the feeling that you knew this all along anyway. So this wasn't a surprise to you at all. Thanks for your comments and input. Makes this conversation with you really enjoyable
