DJ Texas Tee was born in Beaumont, TX as Terrance J. Lawrence. He was raised in Texas City, TX where he attended La Marque High school and developed his passion for music in the mid 90's. Being an African American male the creative musical talents of the late Tupac Shakur & Christopher Wallace caught his attention. In his room he began mixing Cassette tapes and recording with close friends over popular artists songs with very little equipment. During that time, the late Robert Davis, also known as DJ screw, was very popular in the music world slowing down the pitch of songs became a trend that grew very rapidly.

In the fall of 1997, he began his college career. Dj Texas tee continued to mix music, but now on CDs & selling them for small profits to make ends meet. While attending Texas Southern University he got a chance to visit DJ Screw's in home studio before his untimely death. Watching Robert Davis work his magic on the turntables was an inspiring time DJ Texas Tee.
