Steven Vazquez started early in his DJ career in 1979. At the ripe age of 9, he was caught by his older brother, who was a DJ, trying to use his equipment. After being reprimanded, his brother felt that if he wanted to make sure his equipment was well maintained, it was in his best interest to teach his little brother how to use it properly in his absence from home. Music became a major focus in Steven’s life, rushing home from school to learn the proper way of mixing songs together. Spending countless hours in the first week after receiving the all clear from his older brother to use his gear, he managed to hone his skill within that first week. It was evident that mixing came naturally to him, so his older brother would take him to various gigs throughout the NYC metro area. People were fascinated by watching such a young individual mixing disco tracks so effortlessly.
