John Straathof is a new DJ/Producer hailing from Vancouver Island. Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta he grew up surrounded with music of all types. John first took to creating his own music in high school with aspirations as a singer/songwriter and the dream to join or start a metal band playing guitar. It was while experimenting with loop based music creation software that he discovered his affinity for electronic music. His unique sound comes from a variety of influences across the musical spectrum but when it comes to dance music specifically Johns heroes include DJ Tiesto, Benny Benassi and Fatboy Slim. His live sets are full of energy and incorporate many different genres of dance including electro, acid, techno and progressive house to form a powerful clubbing experience.
