Hailing from Singapore, Philip Tan brings his Balearic blends to Boston, featuring disco sprinkled with house, garage, electro, trance, and dub. He started the MIT Dance Mix Coalition in 1998 and now runs Local Beats, a quarterly inclusive community party.
His long history gives him tremendous breadth during his performances, weaving soul, disco, reggae, R&B, hip-hop, house, trance, and peculiarly cheesy pop into a continuous mix. He loves long sets when he has the time to take the audience on a time-traveling trip. At his parties, he aims to faithfully recreate a Balearic spirit — a holiday atmosphere that spans generations, builds community, and doesn't take itself too seriously.
