DJ Hype is a native of Flint, Michigan who has been DJ'ing for over 25 years. At the young age of 12, he began the life of a DJ and was motivated by the great mixmasters like Jam Master Jay, DJ Jazzy Jeff, and Michigan DJ’s such as DJ Insain and Wax Taxin Dre. “Having DJ’s like this as a foundation helped me realize the importance to help keep the art alive. “ says DJ Hype

The love of music came from his grandmother to become a DJ. She was a DJ for a local biker club where she was a member of during the 70’s and 80’s. His grandmother's record collection holds over 1000 records on the shelves in her basement where she hosted many parties. "I would hear artists like Luther Vandross, Gap Band, Earth Wind & Fire, Michael Jackson and Prince. This is why I fell in love with music at an early age." he remembers.
