DJ HAMM has an eclectic taste in music and a true passion for dj’ing. He was born and raised on the South side of Chicago and he largely credits the city for influencing the sounds he creates. As a teenager, he attended roller skating and footworking parties, and noticed how music strengthened social bonds.

He grew up listening to funk, house, R&B, and soul music with his family. Surprisingly, his mother was also a DJ in college! DJ HAMM learned of her skills after he told her about his growing interest in the art of dj’ing.

Some of his favorite artists are Kendrick Lamar, Anderson .Paak, The Isley Brothers, Freddie Gibbs, and Ravyn Lenae.

He grew up admiring legends like DJ Jazzy Jeff, Dj Premier, and Frankie Knuckles. At 19, he started dj’ing college parties in Central Indiana. This was special because he provided a soulful experience to Midwestern music scenes that were completely devoid of hip-hop or R&B, but had a following that respected these genres.
