A younger Melissa began the project
DJ Baby Heat by regularly uploading to SoundCloud from her bedroom at home in Atlantic City, a northeastern resort town known for its boardwalk, beaches and casinos. She quickly gained a small cult following amid the experimental club scene and began hosting a regular audience as a member of the independent netradio community
Datafruits.fm, bringing warmth, edge, and undeniable momentum to the underground club community. She later became the lyricist and lead vocalist of Philadelphia’s BEŁŁS band in 2025.
Mel is still performing as DJ BABY HEAT, as well as fronting BEŁŁS. Together, these identities form a dynamic artistic voice that prioritizes authenticity, connection, and movement.
