Springfield, Mo, United States
Chris Grant AKA DJ Valence started his music career in his mid teens discovering and listening to all genres of music. After high school, Grant studied media production at Missouri State University, and interned with Lou Whitney at The Studio in Springfield, MO. He became a DJ soon after, and hasn’t stopped since. In 2008, DJ Valence picked up a job as the DJ for the Springfield Cardinals and handled all the audio at Hammons Field for that season and the next. He also shadowed Damon Oliver, the DJ for Busch Stadium. His DJ influences include DJ P., DJ Rectangle, Vinyl Richy, RJD2, Z-Trip, DJ AM, DJ Shadow, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Mixmaster Mike, and all the pioneers of Hip Hop culture. DJ Valence's style is also heavily influenced by a number of alternative rock, 80’s pop and hairbands, ska, reggae, and even country music. His goal is to leave no genre untouched and to blend as many styles possible to test the limits of being a turntable DJ.
