With war ravaging across the globe, DJ Ralph Lawson is taking action.

The Founder of 20/20 Vision – a record label specializing in dance music – will take part in a 20 hour, 20 minute DJ livestream today, Friday 20th February. The action will go down live on his official Mixcloud profile, starting from 2PM GMT / 9AM EST / 11PM JST / 6AM PST.

Lawson will be raising funds for the charity War Child. The organisation supports children caught up in conflicts around the world. This includes Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan and other war torn regions.

The length of the livestream is in reference to Lawson’s legendary Leeds-based label. In another nod, the unprecedented set will exclusively feature music from its catalogue.

In a statement, Lawson said: “Lying awake in bed on Bonfire Night in the UK, listening to fireworks crack through the night air, I tried to imagine what it must feel like to be a child living through bombardment with real explosions getting closer and closer and it was impossible to truly comprehend.

I’ve wanted to do something to help for a long time but found it difficult to navigate through the division and polarisation of our current world. I began researching independent charitable organisations focused first and foremost on children caught up in conflict with a combined emergency aid and long-term psychological support approach and I found War Child.

War Child is striving for a world in which no child’s life is torn apart by war. They protect, educate and stand up for the rights of children living in war zones. Now is the time. Please do get involved and donate.”

Tune in from Lawson’s Mixcloud profile at 2PM GMT / 9AM EST / 11PM JST / 6AM PST today. To donate, head to Ralph’s JustGiving page or War Child’s official website.
