One person making use of Spotlights is Lefto Early Bird. The Brussels-based musician, DJ and radio host has rocked with Mixcloud since 2009 and, through his musical travels, has discovered heaps of amazing sounds. We asked Lefto to share his top three Spotlights, read on for his selections.
Worldwide FM
Founded by the legendary Gilles Peterson, Worldwide FM rose from humble beginnings to becoming one of the premier online radio stations throughout the globe. Each show has its own distinct flavour, merging all musical worlds skillfully and with care. Telling the stories of the underground, Worldwide FM is made up of incredible DJs and hosts such as Clémentine, Pedro Montenegro, Luke Una, Valentine Comar and Peterson himself.
“Worldwide FM is a radio station that’s been around for so long,” Lefto says. “I had my own radio show there for so long. It’s been a great, great station for many reasons, and there’s still some great shows on there as well, like Rohan Rakhit has this regular show on there. Coco Maria, also Giles Peterson’s long, extensive show on there every week is, is one to listen to. It’s pretty cool.”
NTS Radio
If you’re a music lover, chances are you’ve been locked into an NTS show before. Broadcasting 24/7 and everywhere from London and Los Angeles, the station caters to your every mood. Having a day by the pool? NTS has got you. Trying to focus? There’s a show for you. A fertile ground for the grassroots to thrive, NTS’s mark is indelible.
In October 2025, its ‘Don’t Assume Day’ initiative brought together the biggest names in the arts and politics in a day of celebration of music, including Samuel L. Jackson, Elijah Wood, Jeremy Corbyn and more. A sign that NTS has laid down deep roots. “NTS is trendy, cool, hip, you know the deal,” Lefto says. “ You can find many shows, weird stuff, cool stuff, popular stuff. Everything works on NTS.”
Kiosk Radio
Transmitting out of a shack in the middle of Brussels’ national park, Kiosk Radio does things a little differently. It is from that shock that musical bliss is created and Belgium’s disparate creative communities unite all day, everyday. Any given hour, you can check out local DJs such as Arno Lemons, Bongo Hi-Fi and Casper as well as international selectors like Neffa T, Honey Trap and Proxima. As a result, Kiosk is intensely global in the names, faces and sounds it pushes.
As a proud Belgian, this selection is sentimental for Lefto. “Here in Brussels, my own local radio station is Kiosk Radio, where I host my own weekly show, ‘Think Outside The Kiosk,’” he says. “The station has over 150 regular shows every month and 42 outsider shows from all over the planet. So that’s definitely one to check out.”
