We know that discovery is an important part of anyone’s musical journey, and unearthing your next favourite radio show or sound is key to nurturing your tastes.
That’s why we’ve made it easier to find your favourite DJ or a new essential mix on Mixcloud. With this series of changes, we hope they will help you find who you’re looking for and make it easy to listen to the music you love.
Smarter, more relevant results
We’ve re-tuned search to prioritise creators you have a real connection with. Either through a follow or listening history or stations you’re affiliated with. Search also now prioritises creators who are currently live on air. This will make it quick and easy to see that stream you’re jumping on to find.
More forgiving and intuitive capabilities
Previously, searches for creator usernames without spaces or other complicated characters tended to show no results. To fix this, we’ve increased the elasticity of your requests. This means we’ll show you results even when they’re not exactly perfect, reducing failed or frustrating searches.
Work the combinations
As a result, a ‘DJ name + radio station’ combination will now return better matches even if the search information is split between a station’s name and show title. We’ve tweaked the metadata driving search to prioritise usernames and show titles rather than the previous mish mash of other data like a user’s location.
