I have always loved music and all kinds of music but my love of Soul, RnB and Jazz Funk came as a result of listening to Robbie Vincent on Radio London in the 70s.

With this in mind, I started DJing on Hospital Radio in Harlow in 1978 and was also a youth club DJ moving into night club work throughout Herts and Essex and North London through the 1980s. If I wasn’t playing music I would visit the clubs of the time, venues like The Lacy Lady and The Goldmine watching Froggy and Chris Hill do their thing. Flicks in Dartford on a Friday would see Robbie Vincent and Jeff Young and learning about what the Soul scene was doing and buying the tunes they would play. This included regular trips to City Sounds in Holborn, where I grew my vinyl collection.
