Originally from Bedford, Nova Scotia, Canada, A.W.O.L (aka A Way Of Life) grew up listening to Hip Hop, before discovering the Rave Scene. He moved to Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in 2006 and found the Rave Scene more supportive across the genres. He started DJing in Calgary in 2016, and played his first festival, Motion Notion in 2017 (supporting the renegade stage "Turtle Island" powered by Bass Turtle from Calgary, AB). A.W.O.L prefers his sounds to have 3 things: 1) Soul 2) Funk 3) Street vibes. These elements can be found in his love for House, Techno, Jungle, Drum & Bass, Footwork, Dubstep, Grime, and of course, Hip Hop. Moving back to Nova Scotia in 2018, he now calls Dartmouth home, and he is determined to expand his sounds and influences where he grew up. Lately, he has been inspired by the deeper side of Dubstep, Trip Hop, and his love of Indie Dance.
