DJ Jim Jam a/k/a J-Jam began as Disco Jim at Mathews Disco in Albany, Georgia in 1981.

At 15 years old, Jimmie Jam would soon be drafted by the renowned "Jammer" a top radio announcer/personality with Albany's #1 station 96.3 WJIZ FM radio.

Rap music was thought to be a passing fad with it's mixing and scratching.

But in 1980, The Jammer who co-promoted (his friend) a debuting Kurtis Blow to rap-stardom in Albany --booking the first "rap" concert In the South Georgia --at Hugh Mills stadium.

So with Jammer admiring Jim Jam's mix-style, it's no wonder how the movement soon caught on ...12" single sales replaced the 45's --Rap was heavily requested on the radio --New York rap-orientation would quickly replace disco music everywhere!

Thus, Rap & Hip-Hop are here to stay and so are Jim Jam's mixtapes!
