Alan Joseph Deadman

Sheffield, United Kingdom

I started collecting secondhand ska, rocksteady, reggae and Nigerian 45s in the early 70s from Brixton street market and Notting Hill. Later added a massive love of dub, Latin American and other African musics. Started the JuJu Club in Sheffield in 1988 booking, dj'ing and promoting the night with a 7 year residency in a large working men's club, featuring up tempo world music bands; then added dub and techno nights, curating stages at Sheffield Tramlines Festival and managing a large, free annual multicultural community festival (for 20 years). I now focus on my two hour weekly radio show on Sheffield Live FM, going out 9 -11 on Tuesday mornings and called 'The Green, Friendly & Different Show'.
