This is the second in a series of indie pop compilations that I have made around the time of my birthday since 2002. This has always been one of my favorites. It features indie pop from the early 2000s and some picks that reach further back. Among other things, it has the best indie pop song ever written about soccer (about U.S. goalie Kasey Keller); one of the very few pop songs to name check my hometown of Detroit; an obscure cover of my favorite Thompson Twins song; great Spanish indie pop and German indietronica; the best New Order B-side; seminal songs from The Moles and Camera Obscura…

Great stuff. I'm not checking the dates of all the releases, but there's a real late 80's (and earlier) vibe - bands like the La's, etc., whose debut I love, so what's not to like here?!:) Cheers!
Thanks for listening and for the comment! Interestingly, all are from the 90s (mostly late 90s) and very early 00s (since the mix is from 2003), except for New Order (of course!). But I definitely agree there is a continuity in sound from a certain strain of 80s bands to these bands!
