Upon opening the ‘flashbulb’ pages of any glossy magazine it is no surprise nowadays to be greeted with the familiar faces of celebrities’ offspring partying at glamorous events. It seems that following in your mother or father’s footsteps has never been more ‘on-trend’, however only a select few hold the actual talent to make it in their chosen industry. Becky Tong is one of those gifted few.
Having only DJ’ed for the past three years, Tong is enjoying a successful career behind the decks. Alongside her friend and DJ partner, Amber Le Bon, Tong first came onto the scene as a ‘new face’ at Models1 aged just 16. From then, her career has continuously gone from strength to strength.
Tong grew up in Wimbledon (‘always been a west Londoner‘) and is now based in Holland Park with her mum. Although her father is the infamous club DJ Pete Tong, it was actually Tong’s friends that encouraged her to take up DJ’ing- ‘I have always been a keen finder of new music.’
