Chicago, United States
At this point, I consider myself to be a music archivist. Back in 1990, I was turned on to international dance music, what was then called "World Music" at a little bar with a very cool dance floor in Chicago called the Artful Dodger. I began collecting music from around the world on vinyl, cassette, and then after 1992, on compact disc. In 1994 I took my student loan money and bought a mobile sound system. This was also the year I started going by the DJ name DJ Esperanto, because music is an international language.
