At this point I consider myself a music archivist. I started going by the moniker DJ Esperanto in 1994 when I purchased my first mobile sound system with student loan money. I started collecting international music since 1990 on vinyl, cassette, and after 1992, on compact disc. This was when the genre of "World Beat" music started becoming popular in the US to a limited extent. Since then I have traveled around the world twice, collecting music and sharing it with others in the form of live DJ sets, benefits, and now online.
