Young City born Austin Ralph Elwood Geurts was raised by his mother Linda Jordan. He grew up all around the midwest living in Milwaukee, WI; Chicago, IL; and Oshkosh, WI. Growing up he drew a lot of musical influence by the music that his mother listened too which included Michael Jackson, New Edition, Mariah Carey, Boys II Men, and many other established R&B artists. He was brought up in a split household only seeing his father on the weekends and sometimes not at all. His mother was a Jehovah Witness which made it extremely hard for him being that his father wasn’t and was torn between two different worlds and lifestyles. He always had a love for music teaching himself how to play many instruments at a young age. As he got older the hip hop scene became more and more appealing to him and he wanted to be just like the rappers he saw on tv and heard on the radio. With his small boom box he would take cassette tapes and record his favorite songs off the radio.
