All About Early House Music

New York City, United States

The debates never end about when and where house music began. But one thing I know.. Richard Vasquez was there in the midst of it when it was born. This question will never be settled… because… as the most played house music sermon says “No one man owns house” I first began hearing this music within the magnificent sound system at the Paradise Garage. It was mixed into the sets of Funk, Disco and DOR that was being played by Larry Levan. The thing about these records is that they sounded like they were produced specifically for that kind of sound system. I’m not going to give it a date but I will say I did not hear the term until I heard the record “Can You Feel It” All About Early House Music is presented here to represent exactly that… not only the tracks but how they were played in mixes. The Choice NYC featured: Larry Levan, Joey Llanos, David Morales, Frankie Knuckles, Gregory Myers, Victor Rosado, Robert Owens, Little Louie Vega, Melvin Moore, Disciple, Basil and others.
