“Production,” “creation,” “making,” each of these is a translation for the Greek root from which our English word “poetry” derives. The Greek word designates the force that flows through a work of art into the mind that perceives it. This program seeks out such acts of becoming in unfamiliar places as well as in places where the words and forms seem already to belong to us.
