Candy began her journey into raves in 1992, having been heavily into dance music since being fourteen years old, going to her first rave at the age of seventeen.
Candy’s first awakening was hearing Sasha on the house scene after initially following old-school hardcore and drum and bass. Sasha and Digweed’s sound swiftly led her down the progressive route as she got locked into the journey sound and has been hooked ever since. The first Renaissance album changed the way Candy understood music which then led onto Sasha and John Digweed’s Northern Exposure series, then Sasha’s Global Underground San Francisco album, totally blowing her mind.
In 2019, Candy was told to put her passion for music into a different league and started DJing, having dipped in and out of having a go for years; but being in lockdown really helped her focus on mixing. Shortly after the start of her DJ career, Candy Dupree became a resident for several radio shows, including Subcode Radio and Mixpub.
