MRKM is the new solo alias of veteran DJ and producer Markem, a name with deep roots in the evolution of U.S. drum & bass. Emerging from the late 1990s South Florida rave movement, he quickly became a fixture in the underground, sharing bills with top international talent and helping push the sound stateside. Alongside longtime friend and collaborator Impression, he formed the duo Fusion before the two launched Urban Chemistry Recordings and their residency on Bassdrive Radio—still running more than a decade later. After relocating to Los Angeles, Mark expanded with the production outfit theStandard, releasing on respected imprints such as Formation Records, Rockers 175, and Abducted. These projects blurred the lines between deep, soulful, and rolling DnB, establishing a reputation for authentic, forward-moving sound. Now re-emerging as MRKM, he’s channeling decades of experience into a refined solo identity built for the future of drum & bass.
