Born and raised in the San Francisco East Bay, Matthew Jimenez (AKA MTYU) was surrounded by the eclectic music synonymous with The City since his earliest days. Such early influences from the likes of Tower of Power, Santana, Sheila E., East Coast hip hop and West Coast latin oldies helped shape the unique sound often found in his music. Never satisfied with genre labels, MTYU's approach to music is to find and exploit unique, infectious grooves while bringing out a deep, soul-filled emotional experience.
