Cape Town, South Africa

KarenGroover grew up in Cape Town. With a great interest in African rhythms she started taking drumming seriously at the tender age of 15 on a Djembe.

At the age of 17 she discovered the electronic music scene of Cape Town and was part of it for many years, listening and dancing to the likes of Paul Oakenfold, Carl Cox and Danny Rampling.

She discovered more of her very own style of music and began DJing Progressive Trance in 2007 as DJane Special Kay, known for her awesome taste and really interactive sets with intense melodies and spiritual messages making it impossible to leave the dance floor.

As her musical style progressed she has lately transferred this energy into her love for lower BPMs under the name of KarenGroover combining elements of Melodic Techno, Progressive House Progressive Trance based on deep percussive bass-lines. She now adds digital percussion to her DJ sets.

KarenGroover is looking forward to spreading more of this 'Sweet Spot' of music...
