On a recent visit to Neptune, Juke played (and recorded) this set for some of the locals to a mostly positive response. The "Blue Planet" dwellers have traditionally been die-hard fans of the "filthy funk", as they call it, sporting James Brown t-shirts, Bootsy glasses, and custom afro wigs to fit their oddly shaped heads.
Neptunians are incredibly high-strung by nature, and funk sets spun by local selectors have been known to go on for weeks, so dropping a quirky 40 minute mid-tempo selection with an overtly relaxing vibe was risky. Aside from a few haters (Neptune has plenty), it was a success; touted by locals as having "a very human quality", and being "weird in a good way". Needless to say, Juke was invited back for a slot at their annual Pam Grier tribute festival.
So, without further ado, please enjoy Juke: Live From Outer Space...
