The legend of Lyra tells the story of a very special lyre; it was given to Orpheus by the god of music, Apollo. Orpheus' music was sweeter than that of any other mortal man whilst playing this lyre. It could soothe any savage; bring joy to the heart of the weary. It was even said that rivers changed course to stay near its beauty, thus John Lyra is birthed.
Never afraid to go too deep, his emotive musical selections are his own therapy. Lyra ended up with quite a mixed spectrum of musical influence due to playing with other well-known artists and in the existence of his first DJ brand - Pretty Filthy. Today, this translates into sets where he picks apart and infuses together all the pieces of the music that he loves best. His sound is refined and especially identifiable by the use of exquisite vocals and heavyset bass lines, which has also now resulted in his brand name ‘Lyra’.
