While most DJs hope to get famous. I started DJing for the love of music. My love started back in 83. A DJ named Magic Mike from KJLH forever changed the way I played music. One night he played a mashup combining “Buffalo Gals” and “Can I” by One way. At 13 yrs old, I was so blown away that I bought those 2 records and using a Realistic mixer and two mis-matched turntables, I spent the next few days trying to imitate that mix. While most other DJs were trying to learn to scratch, I was learning the art of the blend. Playing 2 tracks seamlessly without interrupting the dancefloor. Starting with hip-hop and funk, then Italo Disco in the 80s, to the rave scene in the 90s. I even landed a gig with a local radio station playing house on Thursday nights. In 1994, I stopped DJing in public but still continued to mix at home. After more than 30 years, I never lost my love for it. To this day, I still buy new and old vinyl. And I’m still mixing.
