My first electronic music experiences came in the early nineties listening to FM radio shows such as Ray Velasquez's Nocturnal Transmission and the many "ambient" style artists breaking ground at the time. Passions only deepened after moving to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where a freshman year at art school was frequently eclipsed by late-night warehouse raves and parties, trips to Chicago to attend drop-point warehouse events, and DJ house parties in Madison. Impassioned with a zeal to share the musical energy so thunderously absorbed in the midwest rave scene with local audiences, DJing took flight in 1995 in the form of throwing house parties and creating mixtapes for friends. Soon after clothing stores, raves, after parties, house parties, club events, regular monthly spots at Pure Lounge in Columbia, MO, and Raoul's Velvet Room in Lawrence, KS, followed by the radio show Midnight Electrik showcased Jacob Diamond's own heady orchestration of hand-picked selections throughout the years.
