Obsession is not a word to be used lightly, but I am, obsessed, with music. Whether it's pirate or digital radio, searching for old vinyl, salivating over new, downloading fresh magic or hitting shuffle on the music library, it's what helps me breathe.
I love pretty much all types of music (as long as it's good), apart from ... Trance. An awesome bassline, good vocal, slamming kick drum, broken beat, superior flow, a great sound-if it moves me, I move.
Started record collecting when I was 13, but was au fait with my parent's collection way before the pocket money vanished at Woolworths.
It all stemmed from soul, funk and the joy of hip hop. The Golden Age was a revelation. Listening to Westwood on LBC. Later, came hardcore, jungle, trip hop, breaks, garage,big beat, grime, fidget, bassline, house and techno; as well as film soundtracks, rock and indie.
Next? Eventually update from vinyl to CDj or MP3 mixing. It'll be a whole new world...
