Historically the best-known goal of an alchemist has been to create Gold, often transmuted from common metals.
A lesser known goal of many alchemists has been to create 'panacea', a solution or remedy for all difficulties or diseases, which is essentially the elixir of life itself.
Little evidence has suggested this has or ever will be possible, but Elroy's mixes may be the closest thing yet.
