Nigel A. Marin, J.D. | DJ Marin
Legal advocate
My sound: Chicago house foundations (DJ Dan, DJ Sneak), dark techno energy (Boris Brejcha, Green Velvet), and the vocal manipulation that turns voices into instruments (Vocal Brothers). This is where my legal theory was born—on the dance floor.
I believe DJ performances are transformative fair use under copyright law, similar to how Oracle v. Google recognized that copying code creates something functionally new. As a Dj , I not playing songs—I’m creating algorithmic art that transforms source material into novel expression.
My current work builds infrastructure for electronic music artists and content creators in adult entertainment—two communities operating in legal gray areas who deserve better counsel. Until bar passage, I’m not practicing law; I’m building the compliance frameworks and educational platforms that will define my future entertainment law practice.
Legal advocacy. House music.Techno doctrine. No compromises.
