I was born a year after the Iranian Revolution and when the Iran-Iraq war was started with the hand and arms sales of the west. We lived in the heart of Tehran ~ the heart of the blitz.
My childhood was spent with blackouts, war sirens, evacuations, rations, the ground forever shaking, fire in the skies, and screams of fear and devastation in the streets.
As a child I was surrounded by the deep pain, anxiety, fear, anger, devastation and sense of loss and despair of my elders. In the midst of these conditions, children are vulnerable, alone and scared.
It takes a lifetime to reconcile war & immigration trauma ~ here's to sharing stories, to sharing knowledge, to healing, and to ever growing with a whole heap of DEL (heart) X
