I am a geek from way back. My roots extend to the very first Atari home video game which I won for selling the most newspapers on my bicycle route. Yes, I beat a lot of boys on that one. I then progressed to endless hours of playing Galaga and Asteroids at the liquor store around the corner from my house. When the boom box came along, I got a box of cassette tapes and passed the time by listening to and recording underground and college radio in Los Angeles.
Suffice it to say, I obsessed on new music and meticulously hand-written playlists for decades before there was such a thing as Traktor. Nothing has changed as far as the obsession, it's just a lot easier and accessible to make mixes now than it ever was before. I like to mix the old with the new and highlight the synchronicity of the musician's message.
