Andrew West’s thirst for zesty, fresh-squeezed beats began soon after his first encounter with a used Pearl drum kit in Hollywood, CA. He faithfully brought his newfound love back home to Santa Barbara, which attracted new instruments into his life, including djembes and doumbeks played on the beach with a group of ecstatic rhythm revelers, and a custom-built digital DJ rig designed to dish out delectable deep bass in the great outdoors. Thrifty’s DJ name was inspired by his transformation from executive to beekeeper - a conscious decision to live simply and to be thrifty. Thrifty's most recent love? A Native American 5-hole flute and thousands of honey bees, so listen carefully for the buzz of sweet sound flying through the forest or flitting about the desert – Thrifty will be there.
