Jamel (DJ ILL) Jackson was born and raised in Elizabethtown North Carolina. As a youngster he grew a passion for music as he watched his uncle John (J.C. Ice) Wright and his cousin Douglas (Doug Fresh) Melvin spin records on a daily basis. As his passion for music began to grow he was introduced to James (J. Smooth) Johnson who became a mentor. At the age of 15 he became very skilled at the art of being a DJ. DJ ILL has always continued to push the boundaries musically and give his fans nothing but the best of his work.
