George Ingmire aka DJ Crushed Velvet was turned onto Mingus, John Lee Hooker, and BB King at the age of 10 by blues playing uncle :: First taste of DJing in high school, spinning Quiet Storm inspired slow jams, as part of a collective known as the 'Knights at the Turntable' :: Many years later (2003), becomes a radio host on the New Orleans Music Show on internationally recognized, WWOZ :: Becomes enraptured by Electronic Music in Black Rock City (2013) :: Given the name 'DJ Crushed Velvet' by a club owner in New Orleans on a night he performed after George Porter, Jr. :: Continues to seek music as a means to communicate something deep within him, with a goal to uplift spirits, get down and open up hearts.
