Whether he is in his bedroom studio working on his newest mix, hosting an EDM Halloween party, providing a neo-soul background for a slam poetry event, or packing dance floors weekly at his residency at Ten Nightclub, Calgary's own DJ Dex One has been a fixture on the city's urban scene since 2006. Known for his versatility and grace on the decks, Dex One has been called on, time and time again, to open up for hip hop heavy-hitters such as Nas, Snoop Dogg, Method Man and Redman, YG, and Lil Wayne. Defining his craft since he was a young B-boy, Dex One relies on an extensive musical knowledge, along with a knack for improvisation, to get a party started. He looks at his turntables as an instrument, and finds great reward in reading a crowd and getting heads bobbing and feet moving. On DJing, he comments "You have a good party, and you have someone dedicated to taking care of the music, and everybody else can just have a good time. That's why I do it."
