Hi, my name is Blue Funk - I co-host a monthly rare groove party called the Nitty Gritty in the heart of NE Minneapolis, where I enjoy sharing music from my ever-expanding record collection. When I'm not spinning records at jazz clubs, sake bars, craft breweries, and dancefloors, you can find me crate digging or thinking, writing, and reading about music history & DJ culture. I take DJing very seriously behind the scenes, seeking to understand the context around a song, why it's special, and how to present it in a way that will connect with the audience (that's YOU). I try to leave the seriousness behind (at least a little bit) when I'm performing because, first and foremost, I want you to have a great time. It's a bonus if I can get you dancing to something you've never heard before!
