Beware The Quirky is a Manchester-based DJ with roots in Hip Hop and a lifelong love of breakbeat culture. Drawn early to house and techno but always hooked by breaks, he fell deep into Jungle Techno, rinsed Big Beat, and was reignited by the nuskool breaks movement of the 2000s, playing venues across Manchester. After a mid-2010s hiatus, he’s back behind the decks, delivering sets that flow from speed garage to breakcore, funky breaks to techno—blending fresh cuts with classics to build energy and take crowds on a journey.
He often teams up with Scott Wheeler, a fellow breakbeat and Jungle devotee who’s been DJing and promoting since the early ’90s, including co-founding and holding residency at FUBAR, one of Manchester’s longest-running breakbeat nights. Together they’re also involved in Most Wanted, a multi-genre night currently running regularly in and around Manchester.
